Prof. Scarlet Leslie-Lewis Writer, Slytherin Mystery Architecture Being part of my school's Science Olympiad team solidified my love for science. Although most of my assigned events were "study" events, I also got to compete in Mystery Architecture. Every team, consisting of two members, was given the same building materials. These could be popsicle sticks, straws, paper clips, an arm's length of tape, etc. In thirty minutes, we had to build a structure that fulfilled the prompt. For example: Build the tallest tower that can also support a basketball. It was a lot of fun to think on your feet and then watch all the structures get tested. Aurelia West Writer, Slytherin On The Way Eysa took one look at the building and knew she needed to leave. The decrepit structure overlooked the clearing she'd come upon, but judging from its rickety shadow that seemingly swayed along with the winds, it wouldn't be standing much longer. She was a bit sad to part with it. It had been the first building she'd seen in ages, after all. It was difficult to pack up all of her things and leave the city she'd grown up in, but Eysa knew that it would end up for the better. There had to be another way to find success. Aurelia West Writer, Slytherin Sowing the Seeds Bending his neck to the left, Leaf felt a satisfying crack. Lately he'd been doing that much more often, especially since he spent so much time bent over searching the ground. No place seemed quite good enough to start a new civilization. There was either no nearby water source, the ground didn't seem willing to yield crops, or the amount of weeds they would need to cut through to set up enough space was enormous. Leaf wouldn't let himself lose hope yet though. They did after all have Raven on their side, and she was never one to give up. Gail Allen Editor Structures There are structures all around us. Structures that keep us sane; The daily rituals that keep us on track and get us out the door in the morning, the ones that keep us safe; the house above our heads that, the ones that hold us down; the way the world views us based on one thing or the other, the ones that let us fly; the access to education, opinions and so much knowledge. The world is truly a wonderful place, but without structure it would be a confusing mess with no head or tail to it. We need structure. Gail Allen Editor Five Shining Doors It seemed now that as soon as the builders had arrived at the Low Keep, they had secreted in with them sacks upon sacks filled with dust that they had then emptied in the night to settle later on every available surface of the castle. Jamnes was fighting a valliant battle, sending his troops of servants this way and that with cloths and buckets to fight this newly strengthened enemy although Count Adriel had said they need not try while the builders were still busy, but Jamnes sent them out regardless. But soon they'd see the results; five shining doors.
