Sky Alton Writer, Gryffindor A Green Sky “You can’t have a green sky,” she objected. He stopped colouring and glanced at her. “Why not?” “It just isn’t right.” “It’s a picture,” he said, “It doesn’t need to be.” She pondered this for a second. “It still looks funny.” “Well, I think it’s pretty,” he told her and went back to colouring in neat little strokes. “I think I’ll do some pink trees next.” She snorted and silently went back to work on her own picture. After a while, she was surprised to notice that a few purple cows had found their way in amongst the brown ones. Sky Alton Writer, Gryffindor Other Worlds When I was little one of the things that fascinated me was being able to look through something like a piece of stained glass and see the world in totally different colours. I have vivid memories of squinting through a plate made out of amber glass, a piece of blue cellophane from a chocolate and a bright red plastic gemstone. It was one of the best days ever when they fitted a corridor of different coloured windows leading to the eye clinic. I can’t say it made me any keener to visit the hospital but it certainly sweetened the deal. Iverian Gnash Writer, Gryffindor Ivey was having a creative streak today, but couldn't figure out what she wanted to do. Sketching seemed like the natural option, so she grabbed her notebook and got to work. Her brightly colored pencils surrounding her, she brought a scene of color to the paper. Mixing the shades of reds and oranges together, she drew out a sunset and then using every blue she could find, Ivey drew out the water. Looking at the paper, she knew there was something missing so she took the remaining colors (pinks and purples) and added items to the sand. Perfect, all finished! Iverian Gnash Writer, Gryffindor Ivey liked to knit, it was something she did quite often. Today, however, she didn't feel like making a regular project. She wanted something overly colorful. Knowing how difficult she found it to change colors while knitting, she figured it was going to be a bit of a challenge. Dumping all the yarn balls she had on her bed, she carefully selected a variety of colors from all spectrums of the rainbow. Deciding to make some crazy socks, she set to work knitting in the bright colors. When finished, she figured it was the most colorful project she'd made yet! Maxim Trevelyan Writer, Ravenclaw Hoodlum 'What did you do?' I hear a screech behind me, disturbing my admiration of my new look in the mirror. I looked gorgeous. 'Stop over-reacting, mom,' I rolled my eyes and turned to her. She had that funny look on her face, a mix between horror, incredulity and anger that turned her face into a shade of purple. The same purple that was on several locks of my hair. Together with yellow, green, blue, indigo, orange and red. 'You look like...' she seemed lost for words. 'Like a common hoodlum.' Sighing softly, to myself, I shrugged. 'I look like myself.' Maxim Trevelyan Writer, Ravenclaw Warts Halls 'Why not just do it in the colors of the books you like? The warts halls or something?' Kaylee asked disinterestedly, picking at her nails. 'Houses, Hogwarts houses,' Sarah hissed, shaking her head. 'Philistine.' 'Yes, yes,' Kayle waved her hand, dismissively. 'My point is that it's something you like and the colors go together with the scheme, no?' Sarah nodded, murmuring. 'Greenery with red, yellow and blue flowers. Kay, you are a genius!' she whooped and hugged her friend. 'I've been known to have my moments,' Kaylee smirked and jotted down the notes. Wedding colors, green, red, yellow and blue. February Fortescue Writer, Slytherin I've never been a fan of Autumn or cool weather, but the colors of the leaves make the season one of the most beautiful times of the year! Maple trees are very common in my part of the world, and in Autumn their leaves turn either brilliant scarlet, if the tree is a Red Maple, glowing yellow, if it is a Black Maple, or orange, in the case of a Sugar Maple. Other trees join in the colorful array, including Oaks, with their red, brown, or russet leaves, Hickories, with their golden bronze leaves, and the purplish brown Dogwood leaves. February Fortescue Writer, Slytherin Opals are one of my favorite gemstones. They appear to be off-white, but translucent, and just beneath the surface you see all sorts of shapes of a variety of colors. They remind me of people. Each gemstone has its own colorful makeup, just like people do. Some opals express more of an underlying yellow, some have more pink, while others take on a more bluish hue. Some people are more optimistic, some romantic, some more cerebral. They come in all different sizes, too. All opals, and all people, are inherrently unique, and it's that uniqueness that makes them so outstanding.
