The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown. - H. P. Lovecraft
Spooky!
Welcome to this issue of the Alte!
The year is waning and things draw to a close. Ghosts come out to haunt just about anything they can get their ethereal hands on - I've even heard of a ghost haunting a matchbox, so be careful when lighting your hearth! Either way, we are glad to see that so many of you have braved the way to us and send in such lovely submissions which we hope you will all enjoy reading. So thank you to all contributors and readers: The paper would not exist without you. Thank you for making the Alte what it is. As always, we would of course love to hear any comments and feedback you may have. If you wish to contact us, you can do so through e-mail or by the handy little form at the bottom of this page. On behalf of the Alte staff, we hope you enjoy this Issue, and all of which to come. |

On each tile of the grid stands a skyscraper. The lowest skyscraper is 1 unit tall, the next 2 units and so forth. That means that in this puzzle there are skyscrapers of 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-unit heights. Each row and each column has exactly one skyscraper of each height in it. The higher skyscrapers of course block the smaller ones from view. The numbers and arrows indicate how many skyscrapers are visible from that position (Imagine you are standing in that position, looking in the direction the arrow points. The number next to the arrow, is the number of skyscrapers you will be able to see along that row/column). |
