A proverb is the wisdom of many and the wit of one. -Lord John Russell
Wit and Wisdom
Wit and wisdom. These are core values of Ravenclaw and indeed define us as a group. But what are they really? What is wit? What is wisdom?
Personally I find myself agreeing with the Clockwork Message this month: Wisdom has to come before Wit, but wit also almost inevitably follows wisdom. For if you are not wise enough to look beyond the surface, you will not find the kernel of truth required to make a truly witty remark, but once you have found that kernel, it's almost impossible not to weave it into what you say. This month in Alte, we celebrate both of these attributes and we hope that you will enjoy this issue with us. As always a great thank you to those who have sent in articles, puzzles and all sorts of other wonderful pieces to ALTE. We appreciate you and hope that everyone reading will enjoy this issue. As always, we would of course love to hear any comments and feedback you may have. If you wish to contact us, you can do so through e-mail or by the handy little form at the bottom of this page. On behalf of the Alte staff, we hope you enjoy this Issue, and all of which to come. |
