Shiloh Adlar Writer, Ravenclaw Since our last issue, a lot has happened on the pitch. The Ravenclaw Quidditch Team faced a double header weekend for our last two matches of the season. Our first match was against the Slytherin Quidditch Team, our fierce rivals for years. We eagles prepared to take on the snakes for weeks before the match came, and we were able to keep up with them fairly well. While we still suffered a loss, a lot of interesting things happened on this Saturday afternoon.
My broom had gone in for repairs after crash landing during seeking practice a few nights before and it had not yet come back in, so I had to borrow one of the school brooms for the first time. Needless to say, it did not like me too well. I kept getting knocked off over and over again while I was trying to find the golden snitch. Every time I made a turn to speed off in another direction, there goes my broom the opposite way and me rolling onto the ground. I was happy that it at least had the decency to take me to the ground before I fell off of it and it lay there by my feet. I kept getting back on though as Arielle kept looking over at me and screaming, “What are you doing?” I screamed back, “It’s not me! It’s this stupid broom.” Of course the broom did not like that either so once again, I got knocked back off of it. Somehow, a miraculous thing happened. I managed to catch the snitch. While the team kept up in quaffle play, I am afraid that my broom mishap really shook them and it had them watching me instead of the quaffle. Still, our team kept it up and flew as fast as they could to keep those bludgers out of my way and allowed our chasers to score while a few bludgers hit the speed demons of SQT straight in the noses. Ouch! Our game for Sunday wasn’t much better in terms of broomsticks being polite. None of the brooms worked for me when I tried them, and I had hurt my ankle during my last fall of the game previous, so I ended up being sidelined and watching from the tent instead. We played Gryffindor which did not hinge too much on me playing, since their seeker is still lost in the Forbidden Forest. We are hoping that she is found before next season as spending a whole summer in that forest might really change someone. I was so upset at not being able to play that I kept pacing back and forth while being yelled at by members of my team to stay put and focus on the task at hand. I could only roll my eyes at them and watched intently as the game progressed. At first, I was worried. Arielle was having difficulty keeping up as keeper for the first two quaffles headed her way, but then she got back into momentum and was able to block many of Jenny and Patrick’s throws. Shadow got some amazing hits herself and even managed to snag an MVP at the end of the game for awesome flying action! Truth be told, most of us were very happy that the season was over as we were all focused on our finals coming up. We are Ravenclaws after all and this is what we do. We worry about our examinations and whether we’ll pass them or not, all the while procrastinating with books and other random subjects that have nothing to do with what we were supposed to be doing in the first place. But now it’s cram time. We’ll be back next season stronger and better than last. So be on the lookout, and we’ll see you then!
