Her mother and father finally came out of the bedroom and said it was time to go. Vanessa Tilley Writer, Ravenclaw Vanessa was so excited! After a long year of waiting, it was finally time for the festival. Vanessa was just waiting for her parents to get ready so they could leave. "Mom! Hurry up!!!" Vanessa yelled. "Calm down Vanessa. We have plenty of time." her mom replied back. Vanessa paced around the living room. "I wonder what they will look like this year! How many would there be? Would they be able to see them all?" Vanessa thought. Her mother and father finally came out of the bedroom and said it was time to go.
It was about an hour before they arrived. Vanessa opened the car door and looked up into the air. "They haven't been released yet." her mother said. Vanessa smiled and walked with her parents to the festival grounds. Vanessa looked on in awe at all the hot air balloons. They were so beautiful! So many different colors and patterns. Some had animals, some had famous cartoons and some had advertisements on them. Vanessa smiled, "Come on!" Vanessa's mother just laughed and said, "We are going as fast as we plan to go. Just be patient. I promise it will be worth it." Vanessa sighed and slowed down her pace to match her parents'. They all walked to the center of the festival grounds. Vanessa's parents walked up to the hot air balloon that looked like a Jack-o-Lantern. It was getting dark so the balloons were being lit so they could be seen from the ground. Vanessa's mom waved her over. "I didn't do anything!" Vanessa said. "You are not in trouble dear. We are going to be riding in this one today." her mother said. Vanessa almost fainted. "Wait. Did you just say we are going to RIDE in a hot air balloon this year?!?!" Vanessa jumped up and down. Vanessa's parents laughed and nodded. "All aboard" the operator of the hot air balloon said. "We will be leaving in a few minutes." Vanessa could not believe it! It was a dream come true. Everyone entered the hot air balloon basket and the family watched all the hot air balloons rising as their own balloon started floating up in the air.
